Create Group Email Threads with Ease

Introduction

Group threads are a fantastic way to communicate with friends, share stories, and exchange pictures with family members. With illumy, you can effortlessly start a group thread, even including external email addresses.

Create Threads Using a Web Browser

• Click the "Create a new" button located below the Avatar menu at the top of the left panel and select "Message." A new message window will appear.
• Enter the recipients' email addresses in the To field. Once you enter a user's email address (whether they're on illumy or not), press the Enter button to confirm the entry.
• Give the group thread a name! It's essential to provide a descriptive name like "Work Friends" or "Class of 2019" to easily locate the group thread.
• Start typing in the message field. Remember, you can use text, attach photos or files, discover the perfect gifs, and add emojis to spice up your conversation.
• Click "Send" in the lower right corner to initiate the conversation.

Group Thread Options

Currently, these options are available only to illumy members using a supported web browser. However, they will soon be part of our mobile app as well.

• To add someone to an existing group, click the Add Member icon (a silhouette of a person with a plus sign) in the upper right of the group thread window (center panel).
• To give the group an avatar, click the Settings icon (a gear/cog). Select "Add a Photo" and choose an image from your computer that reflects the group's vibe.
• As the person who initiates the group thread, you are the group owner and have additional cool group options (but don't let all that power go to your head). You can control whether:
  • Group members can post messages.
  • Members can add users.
  • Members can change their avatar.
  • Members can change the group name.
  • Members can remove other group members.
• If a group is no longer needed, you can quickly delete it permanently. Simply click the Settings icon in the top right of the group thread, select the Delete icon (a trash can) in the pop-up window, and click "Confirm" in the confirmation window. Please note that only Owners have this power.

Create Threads Using a Mobile App

• Tap the plus sign (+) icon in the upper right corner and select "New Private Group" to start a new group thread.
• Enter the recipients' email addresses in the To field.
• Provide a name for the group thread by entering a title in the Group Name field. Choose a descriptive name to easily locate the thread in the Messaging list.
• Tap the Send icon in the lower right corner. It's a white paper airplane within a purple square.

It's as simple as that! Now, go ahead and start a group thread to express yourself to the world (or just your peeps).
